The Game has joined forces with Drake for 'No Brakes', one of the standout collaborations from his newly released album, 'The Documentary 3'.
Fans were given an unexpected early taste of the record when DJ Akademiks played a preview during his livestream on Thursday, August 20. The full track has now arrived as part of Game’s latest project, which features an extensive collection of guest appearances from across hip-hop and R&B. 'No Brakes' feels right at home within Game’s catalogue, driven by West Coast-inspired production while giving both rappers space to bring their respective styles to the record. As its title suggests, the track carries plenty of energy, with Game and Drake delivering confident verses over the production.
The collaboration is particularly interesting given the conversation surrounding Drake and Kendrick Lamar over the past couple of years. With Game sharing Compton roots with Kendrick, some fans had wondered where he stood following their highly publicised feud. However, Game previously made it clear that his respect for Drake hadn’t changed, which naturally left listeners wondering whether the two would eventually reconnect on a record.
'No Brakes' now gives fans that collaboration. Game packs his contribution with several memorable lines, including a reference to himself and Drake as part of the “three amigos.” He also raps, “If I have to pick a side, I’m choosing homicide,” a bar that has generated some discussion among listeners due to the wider context surrounding the two artists.
Still, the speculation doesn’t need to overshadow the record itself. 'No Brakes' ultimately brings two major names back together while adding another notable collaboration to 'The Documentary 3'. With The Game revisiting one of the most important album series of his career, the track feels like another significant moment in this latest chapter.
