As Ubisoft gears up to release 'Assassin’s Creed: Shadows', the latest instalment in its iconic gaming franchise, a powerful new soundtrack has emerged to elevate the experience. Production outfit Thunderdrum have teamed up with British-Tanzanian artist Tiggs Da Author for 'Ukombozi' - a conceptual album built specifically to accompany the game’s immersive world and storyline.

Crafted with precision and vision, 'Ukombozi' features eight original tracks that seamlessly blend into both cinematic sequences and open gameplay. The music honours the dual heritage of the game’s protagonists -particularly Yasuke, the legendary African samurai - and brings an exciting sonic texture to the franchise’s already rich legacy.
In their search for an authentic East African voice to represent Yasuke, Thunderdrum and Ubisoft landed on Tiggs Da Author, whose roots and fluency in Swahili made him the perfect collaborator. Venturing into new artistic territory, this marks Tiggs’ first project performed in his native language - bringing raw emotion and cultural depth to the score.
The result is a boundary-pushing fusion of East African rhythms, traditional Japanese flutes, Morricone-style guitars, and psych-rock soundscapes. With 'Ukombozi', Thunderdrum and Tiggs Da Author have not only added a new layer to the 'Assassin’s Creed' universe, but also redefined what game soundtracks can sound like.
