North-West London producer and DJ SIMMS unveils his debut EP 'Traversal Tapes', a forward-thinking project that reimagines jungle through a modern, emotionally rich lens. Arriving as the first official release from newly launched London imprint Passionfruit Records, the EP marks a significant moment both for SIMMS and the label itself, setting the tone for a catalogue rooted in experimentation, culture and sonic exploration.

SIMMS - Traversal Tapes

Across 'Traversal Tapes', SIMMS strikes a careful balance between homage and innovation - drawing from jungle’s foundational energy while pushing it into more atmospheric, melodic and futuristic territory. The result is a body of work that feels both nostalgic and forward-facing, reflecting the evolving nature of UK underground music.

The EP is framed by earlier singles ‘Orbit’ and ‘Perpetual Motion’, both of which introduced SIMMS as a refined selector and producer with a strong curatorial ear. These tracks laid the groundwork for a wider sonic journey that now expands across the full project. Completing the six-track release are ‘Stereo Strings’, ‘PIPE DREAM’, ‘Lifestyle’ and ‘Missing U’, the latter featuring soulful vocals from Lizzie Berchie.

Together, the tracks showcase SIMMS’ ability to blend intricate production with emotional depth, moving seamlessly between club-focused energy and more reflective, textured moments.

With Traversal Tapes, SIMMS delivers a fully realised debut statement that positions him as part of a new wave of UK artists reshaping electronic music with intention, sensitivity and creative ambition.
