Quavo connects with T.I. for Atlanta link-up ‘Backwards’

Two generations of Atlanta rap come together as Quavo recruits T.I. for his latest single, 'Backwards'. The upbeat collaboration pairs two artists who have each played their own part in Atlanta’s influence on hip-hop. T.I. emerged as one of the city’s defining figures during an earlier era, while Quavo later helped push its sound further into the mainstream as part of Migos.
That history gives 'Backwards' an added dimension beyond its party-ready feel. Both artists bring their familiar styles to the track, with the record allowing their different approaches to sit alongside each other.
'Backwards' also provides another preview of Quavo’s forthcoming album 'QRÖMELIFE', which is currently scheduled for release on 2nd October. Pharrell Williams will serve as executive producer on the project, adding another major name to what is shaping up to be an interesting new chapter for Quavo.
The T.I. collaboration suggests Quavo could be looking across different generations and corners of hip-hop as he builds the world surrounding 'QRÖMELIFE'. With the album approaching, 'Backwards' keeps Quavo’s momentum moving while delivering an Atlanta link-up that connects two distinct periods in the city’s rap history.
