Mannywellz links up with Odeal on new version of ‘cry on you’
Mannywellz joins forces with fellow R&B artist Odeal for a fresh take on ‘cry on you’, revisiting a standout track from his 'Small Chops' EP with a new vocal dynamic. Written and produced by Mannywellz, the original finds him blending soulful R&B with lyrics that move between English, Yoruba and Nigerian Pidgin.
First released earlier this year, 'Small Chops' established a clear sense of Mannywellz’s approach to songwriting, pairing intimate reflections on love and vulnerability with a sound rooted in R&B and soul. The seven-track project also features fellow Nigerian artists Wale and Lekan, with Mannywellz writing and producing the entire EP.
Odeal’s addition gives ‘cry on you’ a different dimension, bringing his own vocal style into conversation with Mannywellz’s expressive delivery. Rather than simply revisiting the original, the collaboration creates a fresh interpretation of the track, adding another perspective to its exploration of emotional connection.
With this new version, Mannywellz extends the life of a track from 'Small Chops' while bringing Odeal into its world. It is a fitting collaboration between two artists exploring contemporary R&B through their own distinct perspectives, with ‘cry on you’ taking on a new shape in the process.
