Joyner Lucas is no stranger to controversy, but this album cycle has taken a sharp turn into battleground territory. While promoting his long-awaited project ADHD 2, the Massachusetts rapper found himself in the middle of an unexpected transatlantic rap beef - courtesy of UK heavyweight Skepta.

It all started on July 11 when Skepta fired off 'Friendly Fire', a diss track with some bars aimed at Joyner. Poking fun at his lyrical style and perceived lack of impact on the culture, Skepta didn’t hold back. Joyner quickly responded with 'NOBODY CARES', dismissing Skepta’s relevance and calling out what he saw as fading influence. Just days later, Skepta came back with 'Round 2', continuing the lyrical sparring match.

Despite the ongoing battle, Joyner hasn’t let the drama derail his rollout. In fact, he’s delivered 'ADHD 2' right on schedule - a bold follow-up to his 2020 debut that first cemented his place in modern hip-hop. The new album brings out a stacked lineup of collaborators, including Ty Dolla $ign, blackbear, Big Sean, J Balvin, DaBaby, T-Pain, and Ava Max. The project also features cinematic skits with contributions from Denzel Washington and Kevin Hart, adding a layer of storytelling flair to the mix.

While the beef with Skepta has certainly added fuel to the fire, 'ADHD 2' is aiming to stand on its own. Time will tell whether this latest chapter boosts Joyner’s profile or becomes a side note in a summer full of rap clashes. Either way, he’s made it clear - this is far from over.
