Six years on from 'UNLOCKED', Denzel Curry has reunited with Kenneth Blume, formerly known as Kenny Beats, for another collaborative project titled 'ii'.
Also being referred to by some listeners as 'UNLOCKED II', the nine-track release brings the pair back together for a sequel that puts their unmistakable rapper-producer connection front and centre. Rather than attempting to overcomplicate the formula, Curry and Blume have returned with a raw, stripped-back approach that allows both of their strengths to shine.

The recording process reportedly reflected that mindset, with the duo relying on an SP-404, an inexpensive microphone plus their natural creative instincts instead of chasing an overly polished studio sound. That simplicity gives the project an immediate feel, providing the perfect backdrop for Curry to attack Blume’s production while opening up on a more personal level at different points throughout the record. The guest appearances have also been kept selective. JPEGMAFIA and Westside Gunn join the project, while Yebba features on the previously released track 'DIFFERENCE'.
At only nine tracks, 'ii' doesn’t overstay its welcome. Instead, the project keeps everything tight, direct and purposeful. The emphasis remains firmly on Denzel Curry’s delivery, Kenneth Blume’s production plus the creative spark that made their original collaboration so memorable.
Six years later, that chemistry clearly hasn’t disappeared.
