DC3 champions the importance of youth clubs on ‘My Home’

MOBO Award-winning artist DC3 returns with ‘My Home’, a new single created in support of the Youth Club Dictionary, a nationwide initiative launched by JD Sports and BBC Children in Need in collaboration with Oxford University Press. Built around the words and stories of young people across UK youth clubs, the track highlights the sense of belonging, community and identity these spaces provide.
At the heart of the release is the Youth Club Dictionary, which documents 26 words and phrases used by young people in youth clubs across the UK, exploring the stories and experiences behind the language. ‘My Home’ brings those voices into music, capturing the connections formed in spaces that offer young people somewhere to express themselves, build relationships and feel understood.

The accompanying music video was directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Andrea Arnold and filmed at Downside Fisher Youth Club in Bermondsey. Grounded in the environment that inspired the project, the visuals reinforce the importance of youth clubs as more than physical spaces, highlighting the communities and shared experiences that grow within them.
The campaign also comes alongside a new £1 million partnership between JD Sports and BBC Children in Need, with both organisations contributing £500,000 to support youth work and projects across the UK. The partnership aims to reach 10,000 young people, helping youth organisations continue providing vital spaces and opportunities in their communities.
The need for that support is underscored by the decline in youth provision across the country. According to The Guardian, more than 1,200 youth clubs have closed since 2010, while 80% of young people surveyed said their peers would have nowhere else to go if their local club shut. These figures point to what is lost when a club disappears: not just a venue, but a network of relationships, a shared language and somewhere to belong.
With ‘My Home’, DC3 helps bring that message to a wider audience, using music to reflect the experiences of young people and the value of the spaces they call their own. The Youth Club Dictionary is available to explore at youthclubdictionary.co.uk, where audiences can also watch the video and find out how to support youth clubs.
