REVIEW: Dark Waters (2019)
Regardless of whether another brooding political expose is what mainstream cinema needs at the time, you can't deny the qualities of Dark Waters. Personally, I found Todd Haynes picture to be achingly familiar and a little dull in parts but cannot question the merit of its screenplay and the performance of a cast that is helmed brilliantly by the understated Mark Ruffalo.
The film's strong environmental agenda is unquestionably pertinent in these uncertain times and the revelations about global manufacturer DuPont's underhanded activates are pretty shocking. It's important that cinema continues to shine a light on topics such as this, I'm just not sure if it should do it so often.
