NEW ALBUM: Royce Da 5'9" - The Allegory

Released under his self-owned label, Heaven Studios, rap veteran Royce Da 5’9” graces 2020 with his latest LP “The Allegory”. Royce, now fourty-two, will be looking to replicate his last effort “Book of Ryan”, which was quietly one of the better releases from 2018. Nickel’s eighth studio album features the likes of Griselda rappers Conway and Benny The Butcher, as well as his Slaughterhouse group member - Kxng Crooked. This is not the first time we’ve heard Royce this year, having already featured on fellow Detroit legend Eminem’s “Music To Be Murdered By” album in January. The 313 rappers have been collaborating since the late-nineties and as a duo go by the name of Bad Meets Evil.

Even in his third decade of rap, Royce is still able to maintain his high standard of lyrics and wordplay, whilst balancing his old-school demeanour without sounding out-dated. Unapologetically, he’s prepared to take his rap deeper and delve into social and political problems, which are the consistent themes throughout. Not only this, but he’s now expanded his arsenal by producing his own beats. In fact, he has producer credits across all twenty-two tracks, which suggests he’s looking to become more than a lyricist as he enters the next phase of his career. All of these variables combined equated to a great project all-round, adding to his already impressive body of work.

Royce has once again shown out. ‘The Allegory’ is available to stream in full below and we would be interested in hearing any thoughts and comments.
