NEW ALBUM: Key Glock – Yellow Tape
Cut throat, hustle rap. The first quarter of 2020 has seen the return of Memphis rapper Key Glock with his new solo project: ‘Yellow Tape’ dropping in late January. Having signed to Young Dolph’s independent label Paper Route EMPIRE back in 2017, the then up-and-coming artist received early praise for his label-debut mixtape ‘Glock Season’. GLIZOCK has since established himself as a city-favourite due to records such as ‘Russian Cream’, which blew up in the South in early 2018. Glock’s last outing, ‘Dum & Dummer’, was a collaboration mixtape with Young Dolph, with the two touring America throughout February and March.
Without features, the tape is solely Glock rapping on the Southern Trap beats, many being produced by label mate BandPlay. The twenty-two-year-old continues to represent his city throughout the project, with the main theme – get to the money by any means necessary. During the course of the tape, Glock showcases a number of his abilities, one being his ability to adapt his style and flow to the ever changing beat tempos across the sixteen tracks. Needless to say, this effort further cements his case for being one of the best young rappers out of Memphis right now, if not, the South itself.
