South London born and raised, now globally appreciated. Stormzy has had a life changing decade. From coming up in the Grime scene to announcing a World Tour which is seeing him cover all corners of the earth, and it is clear to see that he has no plans of slowing down any time soon. After making waves with 'Gang Signs & Prayer' in 2017, Stormzy was straight back to work preparing the new album, and broadening the horizons of his brand #MERKY, and now it is time for us to take in the second album, 'Heavy Is The Head'.

The debut album was so groundbreaking which means in order to maintain the high standards he has set for himself, Stormzy really had to pull out all the stops with this project. Especially when you add all the accolades, and incredible experiences he has encountered throughout the come up in to the equation. There has been a lot of elevation in all avenues of his life in the past few years, and it is safe to say that the music has followed suit.
We had already taken in 'Crown', 'Vossi Bop', 'Wiley Flow', 'Own It' and more recently 'Audacity' featuring Headie One, prior to release. All tracks have been well received by the masses, with the UK star setting levels as he picked up a number one with 'Vossi Bop'. It is clear to see that the way in which Stormzy creates music is of the highest calibre, and he deserves to reap the full rewards for his craft. In a recent interview with Dotty on 1Xtra, Stormzy spoke on the process and he described the way in which he creates his music. The multi-gifted creative explained how he brings his vision to reality, and if he can not execute, a flow, lyric melody in a certain way then he will hand pick a featuring artist to apply the finishing touches. Now, this makes sense when you look at the track listing. We see the likes of Headie One, H.E.R, Aitch, YEBBA, and many more all come and provide their incredible amounts of creative talent to help construct a powerful, moving body of work in 'Heavy Is The Head'.
16 tracks of excellence, and there isn no doubt that this project has something for everyone. We see him deliver that gripping Grime sound, while he also flows nicely over some expertly constructed rap beats, but it is the way in which Stormzy pushes the boundaries with his music, refusing to be tied down to any one genre that really shows just how gifted he is. 'Heavy Is The Head' see's him continue to showcase his diversity, whilst also pouring his heart in to the music. We have moving tracks like 'Rachael's Little Brother', and 'Lessons' which see's him shed light on the public break up between him and Maya Jama, and then we have the energetic tracks like 'Wiley Flow', and 'Big Michael'. 'H.I.T.H' has been constructed to the highest standard, and pushes Stormzy's profile and legacy even further in to the history books.
