NEW ALBUM: Chip - League Of My Own II
Chip has cemented himself as one of the UK greats. After releasing, 'League Of My Own II' two days ago, the project has been received exceptionally well, and this all down to the high quality production and Chip's ability on the microphone.
It's been a long and at times challenging journey, for the North London artist. Chip is someone who was exposed to the lime light of music success at a very early age, and travelled across the globe finding his sound. Yes, this made him steer away from Grime and step into the pop culture, which at the time was where the money was being made, but he's been back in the UK scene for the past few years, and has been a key figure in the growth and increase in popularity for the underground movement.
In 2007, Chipmunk released the original 'League Of My Own' mixtape which kick started his career, and saw his name grow massively. It was from this point on he explored the industry and the scene, and became globally trained on the microphone. His return to the Grime scene saw him levels above the majority of MC's active and releasing music, purely down to the years experience and exposure he has had to the industry. This new album really allows him to show his talent and ability as not just an MC, but an experienced vocal artist.
The promotion behind this album is a huge factor into the popularity of the release. Not only has everyone been screaming for a Chip album, after the successes of Skepta's 'Konnichiwa', Stormzy's 'Gang Signs & Prayer' and Giggs' 'Landlord', it was only right that Chip delivered a full body of work. The delivery and execution of this release has been huge, Chip took the calls for an album and made sure it was in everyone's face. The promotional campaign saw the release of a number of visuals which have been covered here at CGuk. For example, '34 Shots', 'Honestly' and 'Gets Like That' all got released as singles and were reviewed right here.
As the days counted down to the official release we were blessed with visuals for the track 'Scene' which features the UK legends, Jammer, D Double E, JME, Wiley and Miraa May. Such a huge line up, a track which holds so much expectation, and the track and visual both live up to hype.
On the day of release, not only did we get to take in the project as a whole, but we also got the opportunity to appreciate the visuals for the Chip and Giggs collaboration, 'Amazing Minds'. If you follow both Chip and Giggs across social media you will have known that a music video was on the way, but nobody expected for it to drop on the release date.
These two have been making waves as of late, and have both seen the benefits of the uprising of UK music. As the world started to appreciate Grime and UK Rap, these two artists were at the forefront of the scene. When I took in this visual and the track, it was clear to see and hear that these two are both in their prime, and after a 10 year journey to success, they are at the highest of their ability and are receiving the recognition they deserve.
This project see's a huge track listing, with some big collaborations. We shouldn't have expected any less, but Chip has linked up with some of the UK greats, all whilst going in alone on some serious grime beats.

If you haven't done so already then you definitely need to take the time to appreciate this one. We get Grime, R&B, Bashment, and Drill. When you have Kojo Funds, 67, Wiley, Donae'o, JME and Ghetts all on the same project, it has to be diverse. But, not at one point do you feel uncomfortable with the flows and delivery from Chip and his peers.
This project is set to change Chip's career and life, and with him still being under 30, I am looking forward to what he has lined up next for himself, and Cash Motto.
