RECAP: @Skepta & @WileyUpdates both pick up awards at this years @NME Awards!
It's almost been a week since the 2017 NME Awards took place at the O2 Academy, Brixton, and it was UK legends Skepta and Wiley who stole the show. The two grime pioneers showed exactly why they spent so much time investing their hardwork and love for music into the scene. Skepta picked up 'Best British Male' and Wiley received the 'Outstanding Contribution To Music' Award.
Serious power moves, it's been growing for a while now, and it is safe to say that Grime has been accepted and it cannot be something that can be ignored by the industry anymore.
Just to cement the fact that Wiley fully deserved the award, despite all the hardwork he showed everyone why it was destined to have his name engraved on the trophy. The Godfather came out and performed 2 tracks from his extremely popular album, 'The Godfather'.
And as for Skepta, there was no doubt he was going to pick up the 'Best British Male' Award, after the year he has had and the levels he has set for all UK male artists, it was unquestionable that he picked this one up.
The North London man also took some time to discuss the progression of grime, and some key figures in the movement, in Wiley and Stormzy. Check the footage out below.
