@Skepta & @TheRealKano nominated for the Mercury Prize 2016
It's been a long time coming and finally the grime scene is being represented to a greater audience and letting everybody know how powerful the real UK scene actually is. Since 2003 when Dizzee won the prize for 'Boy In Da Corner' not much attention has been layed towards the grime scene. An underground sound is finally breaking through to the surface again, and it is the two veterans of the scene that have put it on the map in this circumstance.
Skepta and Kano have brought out 11 albums between them before they got nominated for such a prestigious award. So much hard work has been put into the art and sound, and finally the higher ups are beginning to realise that it is this genre that the most people can relate to and understand more than any other.
