Tim & Barry celebrate 25 Years at the heart of UK underground music culture!

For a quarter of a century, Tim & Barry have operated as the ultimate archivists of the UK underground. As photographers, filmmakers, and broadcasters, the duo has spent 25 years capturing the raw energy of the movements that shaped modern sound, tracking the evolution of grime, dubstep, UK rap, drill, bassline, footwork, and afrobeats right from the source.

Far beyond merely observing the scene, they built the very platforms that allowed emerging talent to thrive long before the mainstream caught on - launching vital cultural hubs like Tim & Barry TV, Beat This, Don’t Watch That, Just Jam, and No Miming. From directing Skepta’s MOBO Award-winning visual for 'That’s Not Me' to hosting legendary live sessions out of their Dalston studio, their work has helped forge its visual identity.

To mark this major milestone, the pair are rolling out an extensive 12-month programme of shows, screenings, and panel discussions across the UK. The upcoming schedule sees their visual archives brought straight to the big screen at the Rio Cinema for a special Video Dubs presentation, alongside a heavy-hitting Just Jam party featuring live sets from Skengdo and AM, Nori, Kieran.WAV, Cheza Lucina, DJ Oblig, and more.

Their rich archival legacy takes physical form at Harlesden High Street with 'Tim & Barry: Ridley: 2010–2020', an exhibition focusing on the decade their Ridley Road studio served as the beating heart of their creative output. Running through to late September 2026, the exhibition displays two original tabletops from the space signed by the groundbreaking artists who performed there, alongside a complete list of contributors and a showreel that honors a decade of community-led experimentation.

The dialogue extends across major cultural platforms, including a special live edition of the No Tags podcast at AVA Festival, where Chal Ravens and Tom Lea sit down with the duo to unpack their 25-year trajectory and the changing relationship between musicians and visual media. Over at V&A East, Chantelle Fiddy hosts Rewind: Grime on Camera, bringing Tim & Barry together with fellow pioneers Roony ‘Risky Roadz’ Keefe, Chad ‘Ratty’ Stennett, and Troy ‘A Plus’ Miller to reflect on the foundational footage that defined a generation.

With further announcements scheduled to unfold over the coming months, this year-long celebration stands as a fitting salute to Tim & Barry’s enduring impact, honouring the network of artists, collaborators, and scene champions who have driven underground culture forward every step of the way.
