Not only does this new track come as surprise but it’s an emotional listen for the fans. Rich Homie Quan was taken away from us way too soon, he leaves behind incredible stories and a legacy of hits and track stealing guest verses. The rapper passed away on September 4th, just at the age of 34.
Now he has been laid to rest, we have the first posthumous single. We know that RHQ had a lot of music stashed away, so we are unsure if this single will lead to an album.
The title is very fitting as this track is somber and emotional to listen too. You can hear Rich Homie address the way his biggest songs are perceived and urges fans to take this track more seriously. After listening to ‘Song Cry’ it is clear to see why, the beat selection is perfect. It’s led by pianos and a driving drum pattern, which finds Quan leaning into the more strained parts of his vocals. He really lays his feelings on this one, as he raps about the difficult things he endured during his life.
May Rich Homie Quan rest in peace.
