Ab-Soul returns with his latest project, Soul Burger, a powerful 15-track album marking his sixth release under TDE. Known for his lyrical depth and introspective storytelling, Ab-Soul takes listeners on a journey exploring themes of loss, loyalty, and personal evolution. The album’s title honours his close friend Doeburger, who tragically passed in 2021, adding a layer of personal resonance to the well-crafted body of work.
The rollout began with the October 11 release of 'Squeeze 1st 2', a track showcasing Ab-Soul’s sharp lyricism and complex narratives. The album's existence was confirmed by the track's producer, Crooklin, later that day on social media.
Building momentum, Ab-Soul went on to drop'All That' featuring JasonMartin (formerly Problem) and Thirsty P, adding weight to the album’s themes with dynamic collaborations. The final single, 'Crazier' alongside JID, came out on October 29, building on the hype even more, and it is safe to say that the album lived up to expectations.
'Soul Burger' includes an impressive roster of features from artists like Vince Staples, Ty Dolla $ign, Doechii, JID, and Lupe Fiasco, blending varied styles with Ab-Soul’s unique soundscapes. These collaborations emphasise both the range and cohesiveness of the album, where each track unfolds a new chapter of Ab-Soul's lyrical journey.
