NBA YoungBoy has opened up about his current relationship with music after revealing that he is dealing with a concerning health issue. The Louisiana rapper has built a reputation as one of the most consistent artists in hip-hop, regularly delivering new projects and singles to his loyal fanbase. However, his musical output has noticeably slowed in 2026 compared with previous years.

During his newly released interview with Funny Marco, YoungBoy revealed that making music isn’t currently at the top of his priorities as he focuses on his health. When asked how many more albums he believes he has left in him, YoungBoy responded: “Music is not something I’m focused on.” He then revealed the reason behind his current mindset, explaining that a doctor had discovered swelling on the left side of his heart. “The doctor told me the left side of my heart was swollen. That explains the music, though,” he added. The revelation has naturally raised concern, particularly with YoungBoy still only 26 years old ahead of his 27th birthday later this year.

His comments also provide some context behind the slower pace of releases fans have seen from him throughout 2026. YoungBoy has still remained active this year, releasing 'Slime Cry' before following it up with 'ML2' in June. However, compared with the relentless release schedule that has defined large parts of his career, things have been considerably quieter. Given the amount of music YoungBoy is known to record, there is likely no shortage of unreleased material sitting in the vault. For now, though, his latest comments suggest that adding to that catalogue isn’t his main concern.

With his focus currently elsewhere, fans may have to wait a little longer than usual for the next chapter of NBA YoungBoy’s music career.
