Birmingham grime artist Mayday caps off an impressive year with his latest solo project, a 7-track EP titled ‘KARELIN’. Arriving as a raw, uncompromising body of work that showcases him at his most focused and introspective, there is no doubt that this one will be turning heads.

Mayday - KARELIN

Entirely produced by long-time collaborator DubzCo, the project spans just over 20 minutes but wastes no time setting the tone. The near four-minute intro delivers a reflective outpouring that pulls listeners into Mayday’s headspace - personal, grounded, and unapologetically authentic.

As he continues to lead the ‘Awful Lotta Birmingham’ movement, this year has underlined his talent for collaboration and community and KARELIN’ serves as the perfect counterpoint. Here, Mayday strips everything back, using the EP as a space to stand alone and show what he’s truly capable of when it’s just him and the mic.

With ‘KARELIN’, Mayday closes 2025 on a high - reminding listeners that he’s not only one of the city’s most consistent grime voices, but also one of its most self-assured.
