LIVE: Dexta Daps @ Forum, Birmingham

When Dexta Daps announced a run of UK shows he sent the internet into frenzy. The Jamaican raised talent has an international fan base, but the love for him here in the UK is second to none. The global superstar is going on a run of 4 UK shows, with two London dates, a Birmingham show and a final performance in Manchester.

Tickets were in high demand for all events, but the CGuk team managed to get entry to the Birmingham show to witness an action packed live show. Despite the wet weather outside, this did not stop the crowd showing out for Dexta with a packed out Forum ready to watch him shut down.

Before we were blessed with Daps' presence we had an impressive line up of support acts who most definitely raised the energy levels. Lawdgad, fast rising star Skeete, and the incredibly popular Amaria BB all set levels with their performances. When you're putting on a showcase of this standard, it is so important that the support acts not only meet a certain standard, but also connect with the fans in a similar way to the headline act, and that is exactly what this collection of rising stars did. The stage was set, the energy was correct, and it was time for Dexta Daps to enter the stage.

His entrance was grand to say the least. His live band began to perform, whilst the MC for the night got us ready for the man himself. By the time that Daps entered the stage the fans were already going crazy, and he maintained that over the course of the evening. Performing smash hits such as 'Call Me If', 'Breaking News', 'No Underwear', 'Owner' and many more, it is safe to say that the Dancehall icon made the most of his extensive catalogue, and gave the fans exactly what they wanted. Some fans were lucky enough to even make it up on stage with Dexta, for a, let's say, intimate dance.

The demand for him to perform in the UK was definitely there, and he did not disappoint. He wrapped up his set with a performance of his smash hit 'Shabba Madda Pot' before leading into a rendition of Mario's 'Let Me Love You' which perfectly capped off an impressive, sold out Birmingham show.
