John Legend shares ‘Daylight’ as first taste of Pharrell-produced album ‘Muse’

John Legend has officially introduced the next chapter of his music with 'Daylight', the first release from his newly announced album 'Muse'. Set to arrive on 23rd October, 'Muse' will see Legend joining forces with Pharrell, who has taken on production duties across the entire project.
The collaboration brings together two artists with distinctive musical identities, making the upcoming album an intriguing addition to Legend’s catalogue. 'Daylight' offers an early glimpse into what the pair have created together. The track places Legend’s unmistakable vocals at the centre of a rich arrangement filled with sweeping strings and touches of brass, before Pharrell’s rhythmic production adds another layer to the record.
Rather than overpowering Legend’s vocal performance, the production gives him plenty of room to move through the song’s melodies while gradually building the instrumentation around him. The result feels polished, soulful and cinematic, while still carrying elements of Pharrell’s recognisable approach behind the boards.
With 'Daylight' now setting the stage for 'Muse', the first release suggests Legend and Pharrell have found a strong creative balance. All eyes will now be on what else the pair have prepared ahead of the album’s 23rd October release.
