Jhené Aiko returns after six years with new album ‘Westside Whimsy’

After six years away from releasing a full-length studio album, Jhené Aiko has made her return with 'Westside Whimsy'. Released on 11th September, the 20-track project becomes Jhené’s fourth studio album and follows 2020’s 'Chilombo'. Despite describing the record as “six years in the making,” its arrival came with a much shorter introduction, with the singer only announcing the album days before its release.

'Westside Whimsy' brings Jhené back into her distinctive world of R&B, exploring love, emotion and personal reflection across an extensive tracklist. The album also features several guest appearances, with Ab-Soul, Tyga, Larry June and Ohma contributing to the project.

One of its most notable collaborations comes from Kendrick Lamar, who reunites with Jhené on 'So Good'. Their latest record marks the first time the pair have appeared together on a song in more than a decade. Their collaborative history stretches back to tracks such as 'Growing Apart (To Get Closer)' and Jhené’s 'Stay Ready (What a Life)',
