South London singer-songwriter JGrrey continues her powerful return with the release of ‘pedigrree’, a deeply personal record that finds the acclaimed artist at her most vulnerable and introspective.

Arriving as her second release since stepping back into the spotlight, ‘pedigrree’ builds on the momentum of last month's ‘Take My Hand’ featuring Bel Cobain, while revealing an even more intimate side of JGrrey's songwriting.

Drawing from her own experiences of growing up in foster care and navigating her Irish-Jamaican heritage, JGrrey explores themes of identity, belonging and self-perception with remarkable honesty. Throughout the track, she reflects on feelings of alienation and the complexities of race and class, delivering a poignant commentary that feels both deeply personal and widely relatable.

Produced by Fred Cox, ‘pedigrree’ is underpinned by rich jazz-inspired instrumentation that allows JGrrey's evocative lyricism to take centre stage. The understated production creates the perfect backdrop for her soulful vocal delivery, giving every line room to resonate while enhancing the emotional weight of the record. Rather than offering easy answers, ‘pedigrree’ embraces the complexities of identity, inviting listeners into JGrrey's lived experiences with openness and authenticity.

Following her brief hiatus, JGrrey has returned with renewed purpose, and each release continues to showcase another layer of her artistry. While ‘Take My Hand’ leaned into warmth and connection, ‘pedigrree’ shifts the focus towards reflection and self-exploration, further demonstrating the breadth of her creative vision.

One of her most socially resonant and emotionally affecting releases to date, ‘pedigrree’ is another reminder of why JGrrey remains one of the UK's most compelling voices.
