Heinz is giving the lunchtime run a major upgrade this summer with the launch of the Heinz Mayo AutoMayoMat - the UK’s first sandwich automat - arriving in London during National Picnic Week with more than 800 sandwiches available for just 57p.

Landing in Soho on 17th and 18th June, the immersive self-serve experience has been designed to celebrate Britain’s long-standing love affair with sandwiches while encouraging people to properly enjoy their lunch break again. Created in collaboration with cult sandwich destination Sandwich Sandwich, the pop-up vending concept will serve a menu of freshly made sandwiches inspired by classic British flavours - all generously packed with Heinz Mayo.

According to Heinz, the idea was born from recognising two things: the nation’s obsession with a really good sandwich, and the reality that modern life rarely leaves enough time to enjoy one properly.

The concept itself takes inspiration from the original European automat culture first introduced in Berlin in 1895, alongside the convenience food culture found across cities like Paris and the famous sandwich counters of Japanese 7/11 stores. Reimagined through a distinctly British lens, the AutoMayoMat blends nostalgia, convenience and indulgence into one playful food experience.

Visitors will be able to grab sandwiches directly from self-serve compartments, with standout options including The Chicken Kyiv — featuring crispy chicken, smoked bacon, parsley soft cheese and Heinz Garlic Parmesan Mayo - alongside classics like The Egg Mayo, elevated with Heinz Seriously Good Mayo.

Following its London debut, Heinz plans to take the AutoMayoMat on tour across the UK, bringing its sandwich-focused experience to more cities nationwide. With affordable prices, nostalgic inspiration and a uniquely interactive concept, the Heinz Mayo AutoMayoMat feels set to become one of the summer’s most talked-about food pop-ups.
