Erykah Badu & The Alchemist share new single ‘Witch Doctor’ ahead of joint album!

Erykah Badu and The Alchemist are continuing the build-up to their highly anticipated collaborative album with the release of their latest single, 'Witch Doctor'. Running for almost six and a half minutes, the track gives Badu plenty of space to showcase her creativity over The Alchemist’s soulful, percussion-driven production. Throughout the record, she explores the concept of a “witch” as a medium, weaving in playful references to fictional characters alongside recognisable names from popular culture.

'Witch Doctor' follows the pair’s previous release, 'Next To You', further showcasing the chemistry developing between two artists from distinctly different musical worlds. While their partnership may have initially seemed unexpected, their latest material demonstrates how naturally their individual styles can complement one another.

Their currently untitled joint album is set to arrive on 28th August, with the project reportedly taking shape across an 18-month recording period between Dallas and Los Angeles. Musically, the album is expected to move across several genres, drawing inspiration from soul, blues, funk, rock, jazz and underground hip-hop.

With Badu’s unmistakable approach paired with The Alchemist’s signature production, the project is shaping up to be one of the year’s most intriguing collaborations.
