Bawo continues to carve out his own lane with new E.P ‘Surf’s Up’

West London raised talent Bawo has spent the better part of a decade carving out his very own lane in the UK rap landscape. Now, as he continues to push the boundaries of his creativity he returns with his brand new EP, 'Surf’s Up'.

Across the project, he approaches each track with the sense that there is always another direction to explore, reflecting an artist increasingly comfortable with the possibilities of his own sound. The foundations for 'Surf’s Up' can be traced back to a late 2024 session with artist and producer Ken Samson.

That meeting produced 'Wrestlemania', a track that opened the door to an entirely new sonic direction for Bawo. Its influence can be felt almost immediately across the EP, with the energy of that initial experiment becoming part of the project's wider identity.

That spirit extends to tracks like 'Shell Off', which brings together Bawo with North London veterans Scorcher and JME. The collaboration sees all three artists meet as equals, with Scorcher and JME bringing their respective styles to a record that reflects Bawo’s willingness to move between different corners of UK rap while remaining grounded in his own voice.

Alongside the release of 'Surf’s Up', Bawo has also announced a forthcoming headline show at The 100 Club on 12th November. The performance will give fans the opportunity to experience the new material in a live setting, bringing another dimension to a project built around movement, experimentation and creative freedom.

After almost a decade of developing his craft, 'Surf’s Up' feels like a project shaped by an artist who has become increasingly comfortable with not knowing exactly where the next wave will take him. Bawo has learned not simply to survive the wave, but to ride it.
